Environment

At Studio Eco, we champion the move to sustainablity and the efficient use of our resources by purchasing products that are socially and environmentally sustainable and are produced in a safe and healthy way. The objects we stock are created from items such as reused products, recycled materials, and ecologically sustainable resources. When we look for products, there are many factors we take into consideration such as:

  • Are the products causing harm to the people who produce them and are these people being paid fairly?
  • Are the materials renewable and sustainable?
  • Does the manufacturer operate a sustainable business?
  • Can the products be sourced locally so as the reduce the ecological effects of transportation?

We subscribe to the Cradle to Cradle methodology when carefully selecting our products by investigating the end to end lifecycle of the product. By doing this we are contributing and promoting the current movement towards longer lasting, quality products over single use, disposable objects. We believe that we can do this without sacrificing on style. We want the pieces to speak for themselves, so that they are fabulous design products first, that have the added advantage of being kind to people, animals and planet.

Within our Studio, we practise what we preach by:

  • recycling all glass, plastic, metal, cardboard and paper;
  • using recycled paper and print on both sides;
  • not sending printed invoices for online orders and reusing packaging where possible;
  • using air conditioning sparingly, this is helped by our big, beautiful windows which allow the sun to filter in during winter;
  • painting the shop in eco-friendly paints;
  • using green energy to supply our electricity.
